If you don't have a brand or a set of colours for your business, it can be difficult to compile your own from scratch. So I've put together a varied selection of colour swatches to help get you started.

These combos below are to give you inspiration (without overwhelming you!).
The bright colours usually imply fun and young such as kids party cakes and birthday celebrations.
Often the 'earthy' tones are used for bakeries or masculine styling, which may work well if your main customers are men or corporations that regularly order staff birthday cakes.
The pastel combinations are often associated with babies or softer feelings (and do work well as backgrounds on websites.)
And the subtle whites, creams and grey tones usually lend to sophistication and 'clean' simple feelings, perfect for weddings or grown-up occasions.
